Adding, Modifying Lighting Rules

Adding, Modifying Lighting Rules

Applicable for: All the lighting devices

The lighting rule is a set of controls set by the user (facility manager) to control a specific Lighting workspace (zone). These Lighting rules use various input parameters as part of the decision matrix to alter the device behavior.  For all lighting devices functions can be configured, such as occupancy-based control, light intensity control, daylight sensor control (if applicable), daylight threshold control (if applicable), HCL CCT control (if applicable), time-based scheduling, etc.

Adding New Lighting Rule

  1. Log in to your IQnext account with Administrator Privileges

  2. Go to Settings Lighting Rule (under Device Rule)

  1. On the Lighting Rules page, click on the Add New Rule button in the top right corner and select default.

  1. Enter a name to the rule.

  1. In the Add New Lighting Rule Page, there are 5 tabs - Default, Override Configuration 1, Override Configuration 2, Override Configuration 3, HCL Configuration.

Default RuleIt is the basic rule set for the functioning of the device when no override configuration rule has been applied. Default settings can be modified by the user to suit their personal preferences. There can be only one default configuration.

Override Configuration RuleIt is a rule set for a particular time of the day which is set over the default rule for the device to function in a new mode of operation as per the preference of the user. The functionality of the device in this rule can be different from the default rule. Three different override configurations can be configured over the default rule configuration.

HCL Configuration RuleIt is a rule set for Human Centric (CCT Change) Lights, in which the CCT levels (from 2700K to 6500K) can be configured with respect to time of the day.

Default Rule

  1. Under the Default Rule tab, under the Action when the zone is occupied section, enter the following details:

    1. Set the light intensity that you want the Light devices to go on when the zone is occupied. Choose a value between 80 to 100 %.

    1. To enable or disable Daylight Sensor functionality for the lights with daylight sensors select Yes/No respectively.

    Enabling Daylight Sensor

Enabling daylight sensors to help reduce electricity consumption by dimming the light based upon the daylight received in the space.

    1. Select the Human Centric Light Configuration mode AUTO/MANUAL

a.     Auto – In the Auto Mode, the light’s Correlated Colour Temperature (CCT) varies from 2700K to 6500K over the length of the day to mimic the daytime/night-time cycle.

b.     Manual – In the manual mode, you can set your preferred CCT value between 2700K to 6500K.

  1. Next, under the Action when the zone is not occupied section, enter the following details:

  1. Set the light device Occupancy to Unoccupancy Time Delay. Choose a value between 4 to 10 minutes.

  1. Set the light intensity that you want the Light devices to go on when the zone is unoccupied. Choose a value between 50 to 100 %.

  2. To enable/disable Walking Detection Mode for the lights select Yes/No respectively.

Enabling Walking Detection - Enabling Walking Detection helps reduce electricity consumption by detecting if someone has walked passed by the space and goes to an unoccupied state once the person is gone.

  1. To enable or disable Daylight Sensor functionality for the lights with daylight sensors select Yes/No respectively.

  2. Select the Human Centric Light Configuration mode AUTO/MANUAL

  1. Click Save

NOTE
If your IQnext gateways are inactive and the relevant lighting devices are rebooted, those devices will work according to the default rule until the gateways are active again.

Override Configuration

  1. After saving the default rule, you add the desired configurations that will override the default rule.

  2. If you want to enable the override configuration, Select the Enable Config box. (if the checkbox is not selected, the rule will be disabled)

  1. Enter the start time for which this override should commence.

  2. Enter the end time for which this override config should end.

  3. Follow the same steps as you would for the Default Rule

  4. Click  Save

Similarly, you can apply Override Configuration 2 and Override Configuration 3

Modifying Lighting Rule

Existing Lighting rules can be managed and modified here to modify Lighting Rules details

  1. Go to Setting Lighting Rule (under Device Rule)

  2. The rules that have already been added are listed here

  1. For the rule that you wish to edit, click on the ellipsis (3 dots to edit)

  2. Edit the parameters you wish to edit.

  3. Click Save.
